Compatibility

The 4x4LAB 200W DC to PoE Power Converter is designed to run compatible Starlink equipment directly from a 12V or 24V vehicle battery system, while also providing Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and dedicated USB power outputs.

It's ideal for 4WDs, caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers and off-grid installations where you want to power your Starlink setup without a separate 240V inverter.

Starlink Compatibility:

  • Starlink Gen 3 Standard – Designed for use with a suitable Gen 3 PoE cable and connection configuration.
  • Starlink Mini – Requires a separately purchased, compatible voltage-regulating PoE splitter designed to accept the converter's 54V output and deliver the correct power to the Mini.

Compatible Power Systems:

  • 12V vehicle and auxiliary battery systems
  • 24V vehicle and off-grid battery systems
  • Compatible DC power supplies within the 9–36V input range
  • Suitable caravan and motorhome DC electrical systems

Network & Accessory Compatibility:

  • Gigabit Ethernet – Supports 10/100/1000Mbps connections with compatible networking equipment.
  • USB-A (12V/3A) – Suitable for accessories specifically designed to accept 12V through USB-A.
  • USB-C (5V/3A) – Suitable for compatible 5V USB-C devices and accessories.

Important: The PoE output uses 54V passive PoE and must only be connected to compatible equipment. Starlink Mini cannot be connected directly to this output without a correctly matched, voltage-regulating splitter.

A suitable DC power supply, compatible Ethernet cable and appropriate installation wiring are required.

Installation

The 4x4LAB 200W DC to PoE Power Converter makes it easier to power a compatible Starlink installation from your vehicle's 12V or 24V electrical system without using a separate mains inverter.

It combines DC voltage conversion, PoE power delivery, Gigabit Ethernet and additional USB outputs in one compact unit.

Installation Difficulty: Moderate – DC wiring knowledge required.

Step 1 – Choose Your Installation Location

Mount the converter in a dry, protected and ventilated location near your vehicle's battery system or electrical distribution equipment.

Suitable locations include a 4WD canopy, caravan electrical compartment or dedicated off-grid equipment cabinet.

Step 2 – Connect Your 12V or 24V Power Supply

Connect a suitable fused DC power supply to the converter's positive (+) and negative (−) terminals, following the manufacturer's terminal markings.

Connect the ground terminal as specified in the manufacturer's wiring instructions.

Step 3 – Connect Your Starlink Equipment

For Starlink Gen 3 Standard, connect the correct compatible Ethernet/PoE cable to the converter's PoE output and your Starlink dish.

For Starlink Mini, a separately purchased, compatible voltage-regulating PoE splitter is required between the converter and dish.

Step 4 – Connect Your Network (Optional)

Connect a compatible router or network device to the converter's Gigabit LAN port using a suitable Ethernet cable.

Step 5 – Connect USB Accessories (Optional)

The converter also provides:

  • USB-A: 12V/3A maximum for compatible 12V accessories.
  • USB-C: 5V/3A maximum for compatible 5V accessories.

Check device voltage and power requirements before connecting.

Step 6 – Power On & Test

Switch on your DC power supply and check the converter's indicator light. Allow your Starlink equipment to start, then confirm the internet and any connected networking equipment are operating correctly.

Important Installation Notes:

  • Use a suitable inline fuse or correctly protected DC distribution circuit.
  • Confirm wire sizing, input polarity and grounding before applying power.
  • Use compatible Ethernet cabling and PoE equipment.
  • Never connect the 54V passive PoE output directly to Starlink Mini or ordinary Ethernet devices.
  • Keep the converter protected from moisture.
  • Professional installation is recommended for hardwired vehicle electrical systems.
Fitment & Use Notes

The 4x4LAB 200W DC to PoE Converter is a practical solution for integrating Starlink and compatible networking equipment into your existing vehicle or off-grid electrical system.

Instead of running a separate 240V inverter and multiple power adapters, the converter takes power directly from a suitable 12V or 24V DC system, converts it for compatible PoE equipment and provides additional USB-A and USB-C power outputs.

Fitment & Use Notes:

  • 12V/24V Battery Integration – Designed for DC systems operating within the converter's 9–36V input range.
  • Permanent & Semi-Permanent Installations – Suitable for 4WD canopies, caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers and off-grid electrical cabinets.
  • Single-Cable PoE Connection – Allows power and Ethernet data to travel through one compatible cable for a cleaner installation.
  • Starlink Gen 3 Standard – Supports suitable Gen 3 PoE installations when used with the correct cable and connection arrangement.
  • Starlink Mini – Requires a compatible voltage-regulating splitter purchased separately.
  • External Router Connectivity – The Gigabit LAN port supports integration with compatible wired networking equipment.
  • Additional USB Power – Includes 12V USB-A and 5V USB-C outputs for compatible accessories.
  • Protected Installation Location – Install the converter in a dry, ventilated location, away from direct moisture and excessive heat.
  • Hardwired DC Connection – Requires appropriately sized wiring, correct polarity and suitable circuit protection.

Please Note: This converter is not a complete plug-and-play Starlink installation kit. Power wiring, Ethernet cabling and any required Starlink Mini splitter must be supplied separately.

The USB-A connection delivers 12V rather than standard 5V USB power. Always check the requirements of connected devices before use.
